Amazing!! After a week or more of not being able to use our bathroom sink, trying the hot water/baking soda /vinegar combo multiple times and using a small snake, this quickly brought a fist sized mass of wet debris up into the wet vac in less than a minute! The bathroom is finally put back together, we are back in business and so grateful for such a simple, but effective, solution!

Perfect! The shop vac worked like a charm! My rubber stopper shrank ( I guess? Not sure how that happens as warm usually causes swelling instead of contractions) and slipped down the drain, then popped off the chain when I tried to get it out. It wasn’t in the trap, so I feared it was stuck waaay down in the pipes near the toilet.
About 20 seconds of running the vacuum did the trick! I took it off the pipe to check the end (it started stinking kinda bad) and whaddaya know – the lost stopper fell out of the cut bottle adapter end! Hooray!

Btw, I searched all over for how to fix this and finally came across your site, the only one with the suggestion of a wet vac. Everywhere else just said call a plumber if it’s not in the trap.

In reply to C.Anderson. Is it draining the water out of the toilet? If so, chances are it's pulling the water out of the tub drain trap too. It's possible all the suction from the vacuum is pulling from these two and not on the clog down the drain pipe. You may have to try plugging the toilet and tub drain, so the vacuum is pulling harder on the drain's clog.

My bathroom sink was draining poorly so I used some liquid plumber and it made it 1000 times worse..
I tried the shop vac method and it got hard suction but pulled nothing out, I thought I was going to burn the motor up. I can hear the bathtub and the toilet drain behind whatever is plugged so I guess that’s a good thing. I’ll see if I can find my attachments to get a better seal but it seemed pretty good. I’ll keep trying but it seems like whatever the plug is it got worse with the liquid stuff, and it would be better to suck it up than push it down…

Been working on a clogged kitchen sink for two days because my wife put a small pot of collards in the disposal and we NOW have a clog. I removed “P” trap today, went to Walley World and bought a snake but couldn’t get it to make the bend into the pipe. Iam going to try this tomorrow and with your info and the Lord’s help, I will have it unclogged tomorrow. THANKS !!!
